Section 1.2 Curated collection of digital resources
My curated collection of digital resources can be found here in a digital curation site called scoop.it.
I collected resources with a learning sequence based on the year 9 ‘Civics and Citizenship’ subject in mind. This subject is part of the Australian Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) curriculum. The learning sequence is focused on citizenship, diversity and identity. In the achievement standard, it looks at how they analyse factors that influence identities and attitudes to diversity, and reflect on contributions to a civic life (ACARA, n.db).
I found several resources which I thought were appropriate to underpin my learning sequence. Curated in my Scoop.it collection, the three elements most instrumental to the learning sequence are Wikispaces, Kahoot and Skype. The first two transform student collaboration, while the third transforms it further by allowing for communication with authentic stakeholders and community members. Secondary but still vital elements shown in my collection are Camera Pro, Animaker, and Gifmaker.me. These creative and versatile tools are optional for student use, and can assist to bring the student’s thoughts to life. My curators insights on the aforementioned resources and apps, outlines how I think they are transformational, and how they can be used in the learning sequence.
